چکیده

The anomalous increase in cardiac glycogen during ketosis and the induction of a similar change by the infusion of ketone bodies or butyrate (4) suggest that a pathway allowing for the net accumulation of carbohydrate from fat may exist in heart. In an effort to assess this possibility, the conversion of n-butyrate-3-Cl4 to acetoacetate, P-hydroxybutyrate, glycogen, lactate, pyruvate, and fumarate was studied in the isolated bloodperfused or sliced mammalian heart. Incidental observations on the conversion of butyrate to crotonate and vinyl acetate were also made.

Impact of Aerobic Exercise on Restoration of Soleus and Gastrocnemius Muscles Microcirculations in Wistar Rats with Chronic Heart Failure

ABSTRACT         Background and Objective: Scientific evidence reveals that the density of skeletal muscle microcirculations decreases in the patients with chronic heart failure. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the impact of submaximal aerobic exercise training on restoration of fast/slow-twitch muscle fibers microcirculation in rats with myocard...

A novel isolated dual perfusion/superfusion heart model for physiological and pharmacological evaluation of mammalian heart preparations

Abstract Introduction: Isolated perfused heart models such as perfusion and superfusion are commonly used for mammalian heart research. However, there are several fundamental limitations in the current techniques. In perfusion model, a suitable cannula is connected to the aorta and the perfusion is retrogradely performed. But, electrode displacement is a potential unwanted event resulted fr...

Studies on myocardial metabolism of protein and amino acids by the use of C14-labelled substrates.

(1) In order to study the relationship between the energy metabolism via TCA cycle and amino acid metabolism as well as protein synthesis, C14-labelled substrates were used for tracer experiment . (2) Considerable C14O2 formation was noted from carbohydrates such as acetate-1-C14, pyruvate-1-C14, and pyruvate-3-C14, while a smaller amount of C14O2 was produced from amino acids such as glycine1-...
